Hello friends!

Dari Mulut ke Mulut is sneaking back a week early from break.

There is just too much news out there. From Indonesia’s horrendous start to the year with natural disasters affecting 1.3 million people, the political context of Malaysia’s Emergency order and, of course, vaccines, vaccines, vaccines.

On Monday, we’ll catch up with the region and what we missed since the end of 2020. And then Thursday we’ll take a look ahead of what to expect in 2021. I’m guessing a lot of vaccine talk but some of our flashpoints from 2020 seem to be heading towards an apex.

Regular newsletters will resume the week after with the premium hitting inboxes Mondays and the freebie on Thursdays.

For the next week I’m offering a big discount on premium memberships and would love to welcome you to the fold:

Asean and Timorese nationals under 30 are, as always, welcome to a free premium membership. Just let me know via reply email and I’ll activate that one.

And to tide you over! Find a spare half an hour this weekend to let BBC walk you through the Thailand movement. Some stunning footage and fascinating words from those involved as well as important historical context — an absolute must watch as we approach the second year of protests.

See you Monday,Erin Cook
